About The Position

As a System Administrator, Level 1 at Independent Software, you will provide hands-on support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems supporting mission-critical operations. You will assist in managing system infrastructure and ensuring systems are operating efficiently, securely, and reliably. You will support day-to-day IT operations, including monitoring systems, resolving technical issues, and assisting users with system access and functionality. This role is ideal for someone with foundational system administration experience looking to grow in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting IT systems in a system administration or help desk environment
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Understanding of system troubleshooting and problem resolution processes
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, storage)
  • Ability to support users and communicate technical issues clearly
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of System Administrator experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • OR
  • Five (5) additional years of System Administrator experience may be substituted for a degree
  • DoD 8570.01-M compliant with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
  • Monitor system performance and assist with problem identification and resolution
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for IT-related issues
  • Assist users with accessing and utilizing IT systems and applications
  • Support day-to-day operations of client/server, storage, network, and mobile devices
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Linux and/or Windows)
  • Assist with system configuration, patching, and updates
  • Support escalation and communication of issues to management and stakeholders
  • Maintain system documentation and follow established procedures
  • Assist in optimizing system performance and resource utilization
