About The Position

BSTG is looking for our next System Administrator I to join our growing Service Desk Team, working out of our downtown Los Angeles office and supporting customers across the greater LA area. We pride ourselves on being our customers' most trusted IT partner, managing their full IT services and security (MSP/MSSP) needs. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of IT systems and networks across our customer base, working closely with your Technical Team Lead and Customer Success Coordinator. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in system administration, help desk, or a related technical role.
  • Working knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and security principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders at every level of the organization.
  • Genuine curiosity, reliability, honesty, and respect for the people you work with.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent are a plus, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer servers, including installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
  • Perform routine system upgrades, patches, and security updates to ensure system integrity and reliability.
  • Configure and maintain virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to optimize resource utilization and scalability.
  • Administer network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, collaborating with other IT teams or service providers as needed.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, such as access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Respond to and resolve service desk tickets promptly, escalating complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and FAQs to facilitate self-service and improve support efficiency.
  • Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions to ensure the integrity and availability of critical business data.
  • Participate in regular security assessments and audits, identifying vulnerabilities and performing remediations as directed.
  • Monitor security logs and alerts, investigating and responding to security incidents promptly.
  • Record daily hours accurately and in real time to support billing accuracy and compliance with wage and hour requirements.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled on-call duties, supporting after-hours Priority 1 tickets in accordance with BSTG's on-call and overtime policies.
