About The Position

The location for this job must be in Seattle or Tacoma area. As our System Manager, Labor Relations, you will lead and manage projects for which the Employee & Labor Relations team is responsible. These projects may be related to bargaining activities, system-wide initiatives, and other assignments requiring the organization and synthesis of large volumes of information, as well as the analytical ability to assess the data and make recommendations for how best to address and ultimately implement and operationalize. Every day, this position requires an understanding of the obstacles and challenges associated with implementing changes in a union environment, and an ability to navigate these challenges effectively. You will support bargaining activities including preparatory research and planning; manage and facilitate responses to information requests; provide computer and other technical expertise; and generate needed reports and presentations. To be successful in your role, you will strategically lead and manage complex labor relations projects, specializing in navigating the challenges of a unionized environment to implement systemic changes effectively. You will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills in synthesizing vast amounts of information, formulating actionable recommendations, and providing comprehensive support for bargaining activities, thereby ensuring the seamless operationalization of initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Other in Human Resources, Public Administration, Industrial/Labor Relations or closely related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of human resources management experience, or its equivalent, with the majority of work in employee and labor relations
  • Strong working knowledge of generally-accepted HR best practices and experience implementing those practices

  • Juris Doctorate with internships that demonstrate project management, negotiation skills, and contract and policy interpretation and navigation

Responsibilities

  • Supports bargaining activities, including preparatory research and planning, managing, and facilitating responses to information requests.
  • Facilitates strike planning with vendors, HR and Operational leaders.
  • Updates system-wide collective bargaining agreements on the employee/labor relations website.
  • Works with local HR leaders to ensure that contractual obligations are effectuated throughout the system.
  • Researches complex employee and labor relations concerns, and if necessary, coordinates efforts through Human Resources leadership and/or Legal.
  • Produces and develops analytics, reports, and other supporting materials that aid the ELR function.
  • Reviews company contracts and policies, identifying areas of inconsistency and producing materials that synthesize the information.
