About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Switchgear Support Group Technician. The expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year. As a Switchgear Support Group Technician, you will provide technical support from within the Switchgear Support Group for product troubleshooting, facilitate warranty or service issues, and help to drive closure to customer issues. Products supported include all products produced out of Eaton’s South Milwaukee, WI facility. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution with minimum of 8 years working with electrical products OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of two years’ experience working with electrical products.
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.
  • No relocation is offered for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the South Milwaukee, WI site. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
  • Require knowledge of electrical distribution systems and strong experience with protective relays and recloser controls.
  • Possess a solid background in protective relay and recloser control hardware and software which is required for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and programming of these systems.
  • Understand overhead and underground switchgears used in medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Strong passion for customer support which is essential for understanding field issues, assisting with troubleshooting, and providing quick solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Five or more years experience working with power systems products
  • Five or more years experience working in an engineering or production space with switchgear
  • Service Technician experience in customer service-related position
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Experience with distribution protection equipment

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support from within the Switchgear Support Group for product troubleshooting.
  • Facilitate warranty or service issues.
  • Help to drive closure to customer issues.
  • Record field-reported issues as service tickets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams as necessary to resolve customer concerns and ensure the prompt and accurate closure of service tickets.
  • Learn about the products produced in South Milwaukee and apply the knowledge of these products to assist customers.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the products through training both on-site and off-site; informal and informal.
  • Capture information describing customer issues and work with cross-functional teams to ensure customer issues are resolved and tickets are closed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Share field insights on trending product questions and issues with the organization.
  • Help create digital tools that empower marketing, sales, and customer service teams to support customers with inquiries about products made in South Milwaukee.
  • Support the marketing team as a technical representative when customers visit the facility.
  • Participate and lead customer training of switchgear products.
  • Contribute to the maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the switchgear support laboratory to enable comprehensive testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of customer-reported issues.
  • Facilitate safety training for laboratory access.
