Shift Days w/ Weekends Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 POSITION PURPOSE: This position is responsible for operating the Mitel switchboard console, answering and routing all calls received from both inside and outside the Hospital. Switchboard operators are responsible for overhead paging and paging of individuals through multiple paging systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operate the Mitel switchboard console to connect, hold and transfer incoming telephone calls. Monitor and answer calls that come in through the hospital emergency line. Understand the emergency codes of the organization and initiates overhead paging and other procedures when called to do so. Provide connections to police, ambulance or 9-1-1 when emergencies are reported. Responsible for paging physicians and other staff using Smartpager, pocket pagers and overhead paging. Responsible for connecting callers to after-hours staff on call. Place telephone calls for patients or arrange conference calls as requested. Monitor hospital and clinic alarm systems to ensure that secure conditions are maintained. Monitor weather radio and complete overhead paging procedures for weather alerts that will impact our local area. Disperse incoming mail. Cover the Hostess desk during hours that are uncovered by volunteers.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Basic computer operation and software application literacy strongly preferred.
Excellent telephone etiquette strongly preferred.
