About The Position
The Switch Tech Lead will be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of Inside Plant (ISP) systems and equipment, including telephone switching equipment, voicemail systems, firewalls, and other directly connected systems. This role involves managing, distributing, and publishing telephone directories, ensuring full operational capability and system availability, and inspecting and maintaining telephone switch backup batteries. The technician will also handle customer features, activate/deactivate voicemail accounts, and adhere to local DPW and NEC policies. Answering calls within three rings during business hours and ensuring automated answering services are set to respond promptly are key responsibilities.
Requirements
- Inside plant experience on maintenance, installation, testing, optimization, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems.
- Specialized experience with the type of telephone equipment identified in the PWS.
- Must be able to obtain CompTIA Security+ CE within six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Abide by all local DPW and NEC policies.
- Answer all calls within three rings during noted business hours on non-holidays.
- Ensure automated answering services (on-call number or voicemail) are set to respond within three rings.
- Manage, distribute, and publish telephone directories by posting a quick reference guide on the installation intranet site.
- Provide technically qualified personnel to perform O&M of the ISP systems and equipment.
- Perform all administrative, O&M functions, and routines required for the telephone switching equipment, voice mail system, firewall and other systems directly connected to the switch.
- Perform customer features and activate and de-activate voice mail accounts.
- Ensure full operational capability and system availability.
- Inspect and maintain Telephone Switch backup batteries.
