The Memphis Allies program, launched by Youth Villages, is a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and building safer neighborhoods in Memphis. It unites community groups, organizations, and local resources to expand opportunities and address the root causes of violence. The Support with Intent To Create Hope (SWITCH) model is central to this effort, combining street outreach, life coaching, intensive clinical services, and case management. Through SWITCH and SWITCH Youth, Memphis Allies staff identify, connect with, and support high-risk adults (19-30) and youth (12-19) involved in or at risk of gun violence. By meeting individuals where they are and providing consistent support, Memphis Allies strives to build stability, change lives, reduce gun violence, and strengthen communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline (required)
  • Degrees that can be considered include: social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy (others subject to review)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Automobile for work purposes
  • Proof of auto insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a social services discipline (preferred)
  • One year of related experience or direct casework (strongly preferred)
  • Experience working with adults in need of crisis intervention (preferred)
  • Clinical experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Carries a caseload of 20 to 24 adults and meets with each participant individually at least once per week
  • Facilitates daily group sessions focused on trauma and stress management in collaboration with a trained Life Coach
  • Provides treatment at a designated site within the community they serve
  • Develops individualized treatment plans for each participant and conducts ongoing review of treatment progress on a regular basis
  • Provides on-call crisis support to adults (schedules vary by location but may include holidays, weekends, and evenings)
  • Attends 3 weekly meetings (individual, team, and clinical consultation) for professional development and quarterly booster training sessions to enhance clinical skills
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation in an electronic medical record system (EMR)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
