About The Position

Velosity Brooklyn Park is searching for a Swiss Machinist II to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN on our weekend night shift. A Swiss Machinist is responsible for set ups and operation of Swiss Machines per work instructions and set up sheets. This position is also responsible for monitoring and adhering to quality standards per the quality manual. This role is on-site and offers a compressed schedule, working 36 hours (Friday through Sunday) while receiving pay for a full 40-hour workweek. The typical pay range for this role is $27.00 - $39.00, with eligibility for a 5% quarterly bonus target. Requirements

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently balance competing priorities with strong attention to detail.
  • 2+ years of experience, preferably in a Medical Device or Component manufacturing environment.
  • Able to use a computer, calculator, read and write in English and do shop Math.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Verify all products meet quality specifications both visually by using a microscope and dimensionally in accordance with specifications or other Quality System requirements. This includes the use of vision systems, CMM's as well as hand tools.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand QC calc/ SPC and use the data to perform offsets, tool changes and maintain dimensional integrity.
  • High School Diploma/GED-General Studies.
  • Certificate-Machine Trades or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or foreign national granted refugee or asylee status due to ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Extensive understanding of G and M code for a citizen machine. Some macro program knowledge. Operational knowledge of many types of machines and controls.
  • Set up Swiss Machines on most intermediate complexity level production jobs unaided as required by work instructions and set up sheets.
  • Willing and able to train others on basic and intermediate complexity level production jobs.
  • Good communication with their peers of the immediate work cell/line.
  • Able to effectively communicate across the department, including the extended team.
  • Troubleshoot intermediate machining job problems with supervision.
  • Has a basic understanding of the electronic systems used in operations. Accesses the systems for training and clocking in/out of jobs.
  • Train and run other types of equipment as the business need arises.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
