About The Position

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in a cost-effective manner. This role may supervise multiple functions and/or shifts, typically through shift/department leads. Production Supervisors are responsible for a lesser span of control and require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills compared to an Area Manager. The span of control may involve an average to less than average number of production employees and manufacturing machines.

Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply PCC budgeting process and financial management tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge of and ability to understand and apply the PCC planning process.
  • Fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply PCC manufacturing processes in area of responsibility.
  • Fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply “lean”, “TOC”, “interference management” and “NEI” processes in areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of manufacturing and process skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe manufacture of products and maintaining a safe, injury-free work environment.
  • Ensures compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.
  • Ensures all employees work safely and are properly trained in safety procedures.
  • Ensures good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.
  • Ensures effective employee relations, including coaching, development, and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality control instructions.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations according to production schedules and requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for process control in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.
  • Ensures that thru-put and target earned hours are attained and budget criteria are met or exceeded.
  • Works with employees to effectively resolve workplace issues and provides feedback on employee performance.
  • Conducts formal performance appraisals and recommends/approves pay increases, transfers, and promotions.
  • Interviews and hires (recommends for hire) employees.
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  • Maintains adequate staffing to meet required production schedules.
  • Assists with and provides input for annual budgets for areas of responsibility and adheres to budget plans.
  • Meets monthly budgets.
