THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION LOCATED IN SPOKANE, WA. THIS IS A SWING SHIFT POSITION. STANDARD SWING SHIFT SCHEDULE IS MONDAY-THURSDAY 3:30PM-2AM. POSITION SUMMARY The Swing Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating production activities by performing the duties personally or through subordinates for the assigned area. The role is responsible for leading assigned Production Leads and Assemblers by championing Barry-Wehmiller’s Truly Human Leadership approach where success is measured by the way we touch the lives of our co-workers and team members. The Supervisor must be a leader with the ability to develop others, a strategic thinker and a problem solver. This leader must be detail oriented and able to combine mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge with business functions and operations management. This individual should be well organized, disciplined and self-motivated, with the capability to balance multiple priorities related to operations and organization. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator and have a level of professionalism and business acumen that allows communication with company personnel as well as external customers. This position will be a critical team member in improving the Plants’ Schedule, Quality and Customer Satisfaction Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and will participate in Quality, Continuous Improvement and Plant Housekeeping/ flow projects with the Value Stream Leader, Manufacturing Engineering or other technical experts, previous experience or education is beneficial.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of leadership experience in Manufacturing.
  • Associates degree with 3 years of leadership experience in Manufacturing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Engineering drawings and specifications and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as needed for the supervisory area assigned
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to utilize personal computer equipped with business system, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • The individual must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Supports the quick resolution of project issues through multiple means so that Projects ship on time with the appropriate Quality level
  • The role is responsible for leadership of the team and planning production activities and priorities through establishing manpower requirements based on scheduled workloads to achieve the customer promised ship date.
  • Reports Production status in Company Teams meetings and written pass-on reports on a daily basis.
  • Accounts for hourly team members hours through the Time and Attendance process.
  • Ensures hourly team members Direct and Indirect hours are accurate for Project Accounting.
  • Supports procurement process of materials and other equipment to achieve schedules or improved shop performance.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership behaviors (employee-centered and value based) of Barry-Wehmiller’s Truly Human Leadership model.
  • Co-owns the production teams’ culture of participation and collaboration with the Value Stream Leader and other leadership positions.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is emotionally intelligent and is able to develop the Manufacturing Leads and lead difficult conversations with employees.
  • Manage, Review and evaluate performance of Manufacturing Leads and Assembly workers through the BW Elevate/ Performance Cycle program.
  • Support the Value Stream Leader in managing the appropriate shifts Skills Matrix through assessing team member skill levels and identifying, planning and executing employee training.
  • In coordination with Human Resources (CPD) and the Value Stream Leader, the Supervisor interviews and hires, tracks contingent hours, develops training plans, delivers performance evaluations, adminsters disciplinary actions and terminates employees as warranted.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Partner with Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator/ Manager and Value Stream Leader as a First line owner of Worker safety.
  • Participates or leads various Gemba actitivities with extended leadership team(s) to review Project status, Target-To-Improve project status, housekeeping level, Team CI suggestion board, HAZCOM maintenance, or other work categories that support improved KPI’s.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase output, safety, resource consumption or other business driver.
  • Supports Company Schedule or Margin goals through identifying, planning, requesting resources Quality or Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • May be asked to perform other duties at a lower level or higher level of proficiency or not related to this classification on occasion.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
