About The Position

The purpose of this position is to be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, in the department or facility in order to assist the supervisor when needed. This role involves accomplishing various jobs correctly and efficiently, being flexible to learn new positions and duties, and adapting quickly to new situations. The Swing Crew member will perform various jobs as assigned at established production levels and participate as a team member, fostering cohesiveness and supporting team goals. They must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and understand their role in supporting these systems, communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not meant to limit creativity or describe all possible duties.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Must be able to read, write and perform basic math.
Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Responsibilities

Accomplish various jobs correctly and efficiently and be flexible to learn new positions and duties as the need becomes available.
Have good communication skills to help orientate new employees to the jobs.
Adapts to new positions quickly and to new situations in all the areas.
Performs various jobs on the line, in the department or in the facility as assigned jobs at established production level.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
