About The Position

The Swine Production Trainee will develop foundational skills and industry knowledge to support and grow the swine feed business. This role involves assisting in production activities, learning barn management practices, and building relationships with producers, all while contributing to the cooperative’s goals and customer service objectives.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or coursework in Animal Science or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
• Strong interest in swine production
• Ability to learn quickly and follow direction
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office preferred)
• Regularly use hands and perform manual tasks
• Frequently walk and work in livestock environments
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Participate in structured on-the-job training related to swine production, feed programs, and barn management
• Develop knowledge of swine health practices and production systems
• Assist with daily barn walkthroughs to monitor pig health and facility conditions
• Support grading of weaners/feeders and identifying pigs ready for market
• Assist team members in supporting swine producers
• Learn feed programs and their impact on producer profitability
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Report livestock health, safety, or facility concerns
