About The Position

Responsible for teaching group and private swimming lessons. This position reports to the Head Guards and Aquatic Supervisor. The role involves ensuring the safety of all patrons, teaching swim lessons, attending necessary trainings, maintaining facility cleanliness and decorum, and upholding a positive public image. The instructor is also responsible for wearing the appropriate staff uniform, attending staff meetings, and adhering to all City of Elgin rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of age
• Prior swimming experience
• Ability to work pleasantly with patrons and co-workers
• Ability to enforce all rules and policies in a diplomatic manner
• Ability to handle multiple duties/tasks
• Must pass drug and background checks
• Must receive CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

• Teaching group and private swimming lessons.
• Ensuring the safety of all patrons both on deck and in the water.
• Attending all necessary trainings.
• Maintaining cleanliness and facility decorum.
• Maintaining a positive public image and attitude with good public relations.
• Wearing appropriate staff uniform at all times.
• Attending all staff meetings.
• Abiding by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
