About The Position

The City of Fishers is seeking Swim Lesson Instructors to provide a safe, fun, and empowering experience for swimmers of different ages and skill levels at the Fishers Community Center. Instructors plan and deliver lessons, promote proper technique and water safety, maintain records, and provide welcoming customer service. Swim instructor certification will be provided, and CPR/AED and First Aid training will be provided if needed. The position receives a free Community Center membership.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be able to earn a swim instructor certification at hire; certification will be provided.
Must have Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, or be able to obtain them within the first 30 days; training will be provided.
Provide excellent customer service to patrons and staff.
Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality swim instruction to participants ranging from toddlers to adults, following applicable policies, guidelines, and safety procedures.
Plan and prepare lessons based on students’ goals and abilities, and communicate effectively with participants.
Teach proper swimming technique and promote swimmer safety.
Record and maintain attendance records.
Start and end classes on time, answer participant or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies after class.
Warn swimmers about improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies.
Perform water rescues and administer appropriate first aid or CPR when needed.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Solicit participant feedback to improve programs and services.
Attend mandatory meetings, scheduled training sessions, and coach development in-services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
