About The Position
The Entry Level Swim Instructor shadows and assists with instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. This role involves preparing swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines, building relationships with students and parents, conveying information about aquatics programs, and maintaining required records. The position also requires attending staff meetings and trainings, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be 16+ years of age
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen from the Red Cross
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques
- Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average-sized child
Nice To Haves
- Obtains YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent at the first certification course offered by YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit after hire.
