Swim Instructor
About The Position
The Donelson-Hermitage YMCA is seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to join their team. This role is vital in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment where participants can build lifelong swimming skills. The position is part-time with a pay range starting at $14 per hour, with potential for more based on experience. Specific shift availability varies by location, with the Donelson-Hermitage center needing Saturday availability (9 am-2 pm) and the Margaret Maddox center needing weekday evenings (4-7 PM) and Saturday mornings (9 AM-12 PM) through May, and also for summer months (June-July) with weekday mornings and evenings plus Saturday mornings.
Requirements
- Minimum Age: 16
- Ability to swim at an intermediate level
- New Hire Orientation before your first shift.
- CPR Pro/AED/First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Lifeguard and Swim Instructor certifications preferred (company can assist in obtaining them).
- A positive attitude, great communication skills, and a passion for teaching.
Responsibilities
- Lead swim classes in the water, ensuring safety, fun, and progression for all participants.
- Teach proper swimming techniques using organized lesson plans.
- Encourage growth and provide regular feedback to swimmers and parents.
- Help keep equipment organized.
- Contribute to a positive Y experience for every member.
