About The Position

Greenhills School is opening a new lower school campus in the fall of 2026, with an eventual capacity of nearly 200 students. We are seeking compassionate and responsible adults to serve as swim instructors in our school-day swim program, hosted at the Meri Lou Murray recreation center. The program serves children from Junior Kindergarten to grade 5, organized into small groups by age. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years or older.
Must have or be willing to attend paid training for WSI swim instructor certification.
Must have or be willing to attend paid training for lifeguard certification.
Maintain current CPR/First-Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens certification (provided during training).
Must enjoy swimming and engaging with children with a range of prior experience and comfort in the water.
Must be available to work Fridays from 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m.
Must pass a criminal background check. All prospective employees undergo fingerprint background checks through the FBI and the state police. Contracts are not binding unless screening results are acceptable to Greenhills School.
Ideally, candidates will be able to work the complete Greenhills academic year from September through early June.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage children ages 4–11 in once weekly swim lessons at the Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center between the hours of 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m. on Fridays.
Plans and prepares for all swim lessons with the goals and abilities of students in mind.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and child-friendly pool environment.
Implement behavior guidance in alignment with school policies.
Support children's emotional and social development through positive interactions.
Communicate promptly with school staff regarding any concerns or incidents.
Follow all safety, emergency, and health procedures diligently.
Promote inclusion, cooperation, and respect among all children.
Inspect and immediately notify appropriate staff of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool.
