About The Position

This position is open until filled with a first review date scheduled for Thursday, August 27th. Priority will be given to candidates who submit their application on or before Wednesday, August 26th, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Make a splash with your skills at Rogue X! We’re looking for confident, strong swimmers who enjoy working with people and want to be part of the Aquatics team at Rogue X. As a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard, you’ll teach swim lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels while helping create a safe, welcoming environment during open swim, lap swim, rentals, and special events. You’ll also participate in ongoing safety training and gain valuable experience working with the community. Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or have GED equivalent; or are currently enrolled in High School or equivalent and on track for graduation.

  • Strong swimming abilities without fatigue is required.

Nice To Haves

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or a comparable lifeguard certification eligible for American Red Cross crossover training (e.g., Starfish Aquatics Institute/StarGuard, YMCA, or Ellis & Associates).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts swim lesson classes for various ages and skill levels.
  • Evaluates swim participants at the end of each season.
  • Lifeguards during open swims, lap swims, aquatic rentals, and special events.
  • Enforces safety regulations in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Follows emergency action plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care/treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Performs hourly pool water chemical tests.
  • Assists patrons with putting on life jackets.
  • Attends and participates in all staff trainings and meetings.
  • Assists in the clean-up of the entire pool facility and locker rooms.
  • Cautions and educates swimmers against dangerous situations.
  • Is proficient with the emergency procedures and department policies at the aquatic center.
  • Relates to the public in a positive manner.
  • Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.
  • Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.
  • Handles job stress and interacts effectively with others in the workplace.
  • Fosters an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
