About The Position

Are you an energetic person with the drive and desire to work with children and help them become better athletes and better people? Do you enjoy the challenge of helping swimmers improve their strokes through consistent feedback, while helping them to strive beyond their own limitations? Then the TYDE Swim Team has an exciting opportunity for you. TYDE site coaches oversee practice groups at various YMCAs. The Swim Team Coach will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the swim team, and will include coaching all levels of swimmers, as well as interacting with parents and keeping open communication with the aquatic director and TYDE staff. TYDE is seeking a motivated and dependable Part-Time Swim Coach to support our competitive swimming program. The coach will work directly with swimmers on deck and collaborate with the TYDE coaching staff to provide a positive, consistent, and development-focused environment. The specific coaching assignment and additional responsibilities will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, strengths, and the needs of the program.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Passion for helping swimmers develop and maximize their potential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team.

Nice To Haves

  • Competitive swimming experience preferred.
  • Previous swim coaching experience preferred.
  • USA Swimming certification required, or ability to obtain required USA Swimming certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships and open communications with swimmers and parents.
  • Assist or conduct daily practices utilizing pre-written practice sets or developing as needed.
  • Communicate with the Head Age Group Coach to outline practice sessions, meet schedules, and to discuss problems or opportunities.
  • Create a positive team-oriented atmosphere where swimmers learn the values of hard work, perseverance and dedication.
  • Attend meetings and swim meets as needed.
  • Coach assigned swim groups Monday through Thursday.
  • Deliver practices consistent with TYDE's training philosophy and program expectations.
  • Provide instruction and feedback to help swimmers improve technique, skills, and overall development.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and organized practice environment.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with swimmers, families, and other coaches.
  • Collaborate with the TYDE coaching staff to ensure consistency across the program.
  • Assist with other coaching and program responsibilities as assigned.
  • Coach approximately one selected swim meet per month, based on the team's competition schedule.
