About The Position

Join our team of full time and part time staff at Mount Carmel Fitness Center. Our facility is managed by Power Wellness Management, a company that specializes in managing state-of-the-art medically integrated health and fitness centers. Power Wellness is a medical fitness industry pioneer who improves the lives of clients with a unique and customized approach to medical fitness center development and management. Their turnkey method takes away the stress of the development and management process allowing clients to focus on other areas of their business. The Swim Coach Assistant is responsible for providing members an individualized instruction that is tailored to their needs and skill ability, as well as coaching both children and adults in a group setting. The Swim Coach Assistant will also assist with various swim clinics.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year related experience instructing and/or coaching swim required.
  • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)
  • Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Preferred background as a competitive swimmer.
  • Basic knowledge of Sports Engine and Hytek Meet Manager platforms is preferred.
  • Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred.
  • ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association), USA Swimming, or USMS (United States Masters Swimming) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead individual and small group training sessions, with the ability to coach members and guests of various fitness levels. (10-15 hours/week Monday - Saturday)
  • Attend weekend meets, mostly Saturdays and Sundays and the occasional Friday meet.
  • Teach and reinforce proper stroke techniques, promoting strong fundamentals, skill development, and progression.
  • Foster a positive, motivating, and disciplined team environment.
  • Maintain consistent communication with athletes, coaches, and fitness center staff.
  • Uphold center policies, standards, and safety procedures.
  • Uphold all policies set forth by Ohio Swimming, USA Swimming, and Center for Safe Sport.
  • Demonstrate accountability and collaborate with coaching staff.
  • Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
  • Must demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and confidence communicating with EMS.
