About The Position

This is a full-time, hourly position. This job works in the flour mill under the direct supervision of the miller. This position is intended to be a back-up position for the Mill Operator. When filling in for vacations this position will perform the duties of an Mill Operator. The remaining time will require this position to perform sanitation duties. This is a rotating shift position. The Mill Sweeper-In-Training is expected to learn the functions of all pieces of equipment in the mill. When performing the duties of the Mill Operator this position is in charge of the equipment in the mill cleaning house. A Mill Sweeper-In-Training is expected to have basic computer, record keeping and written communication skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for 12 hours if necessary.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds/23 kilograms.
  • Must be willing to work rotating 12 hour shifts, weekends and required overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation to work including off shift.
  • Basic computer, record keeping and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to learn about and operate all equipment in the milling department.
  • Must be willing to follow all safety and food safety rules and procedures.
  • Prospective candidate must be able to pass required medical clearances and fit tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to learn to operate outdoor plant powered equipment such as skid loader, telehandler, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sanitation duties.
  • Learn the functions of all pieces of equipment in the mill.
  • Perform the duties of a Mill Operator when filling in for vacations.
  • Be in charge of the equipment in the mill cleaning house when performing the duties of the Mill Operator.
  • Direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Complete paperwork and plant control documentation in both written and computerized formats.
  • Learn to operate outdoor plant powered equipment such as skid loader, telehandler, etc.
  • Wear a half-face dust respirator.
  • Undergo required medical clearances and fit tests.
  • Work outside of the building in normal exterior temperatures.
