About The Position

The SWD Operations Technician plays a key role in the safe commissioning, optimization, and daily operation of Saltwater Disposal (SWD) facilities in the Permian Basin. This role is expected to operate with a high level of autonomy, ensuring reliable facility performance, driving continuous improvement, and leading safe execution in a dynamic, field-based environment.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in oil & gas or a similar industrial environment
  • Strong experience operating SWD facilities, natural gas plants, or comparable process operations
  • Demonstrated experience with plant control systems (e.g., DeltaV, Wonderware)
  • Proven experience operating gas compression systems and centrifugal pumps
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and apply troubleshooting methodologies
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance/work management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field execution, influence teams, and support contractor performance
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex operational issues
  • Deep commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and process safety practices
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Lift with 2 hands from floor to knuckles: 72 lbs x 2 (with 12 sec rest intervals between lifts)
  • Lift with 2 hands from floor to waist: 72 lbs x 2 (with 12 sec rest intervals between lifts)
  • Lift with 2 hands from floor to shoulders: 60 lbs x 2 (with 12 sec rest intervals between lifts)
  • Lift with 2 hands from floor to crown: 30 lbs x 2 (with 12 sec rest intervals between lifts)
  • Push horizontally with hands placed between waist and mid-chest level to generate a peak force of 120 lbs with two hands x 3
  • Pull horizontally with hands placed between waist and mid-chest level to generate a peak force of 120 lbs with two hands x 3
  • Carry with 2 hands at self-selected height: 72 lbs for a distance of 10 feet x 2; self-paced
  • Carry at least 50 lbs. with one hand for a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • Stair Climb: Climb up and down a total of 40 steps, self-paced
  • Ladder climb Test: Climb up and down 14 rungs, self-paced
  • Stooping and Twisting: From standing, perform alternate toe touches x 3 to each side, self-paced but continuous.
  • Kneeling: From standing, kneel on one knee, return to full standing and then kneel on opposite knee. Repeat kneeling test x 3, each knee, self-paced but continuous.
  • Sustained Squatting: From standing, lower body into a functional squat position. Hold the squat position for 30 seconds and then stand.
  • Repetitive Squatting: Repeat squats x 3 reps, self-paced, no hold time at end range.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support commissioning, startup, and ongoing operation of SWD facilities
  • Execute and optimize daily operations with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and process performance
  • Own and enforce control of work processes and adherence to operating procedures
  • Support and influence Management of Change (MOC) and pre-startup safety review processes
  • Respond to and lead maintenance and emergency activities, including energy isolation
  • Oversee contractor work, ensuring quality, safety, and alignment with operational standards
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within operations and work management systems
  • Apply and role-model adherence to HSSE standards and Operating Management System (OMS) requirements
