The Opportunity: We are looking for versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who are excited to solve complex challenges at global scale and help build the next generation of AI-powered platforms at Visa. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional team designing and delivering scalable data, infrastructure, and agent-driven systems that power intelligent decision-making across Visa’s ecosystem. You will contribute to building production-grade GenAI platforms, distributed data pipelines, and autonomous workflow systems that support real-time analytics, developer productivity, and next-generation commerce experiences. Your work will directly shape the future of AI-first financial infrastructure and digital transactions worldwide.

Requirements

8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java, with experience building scalable backend services and automation frameworks.
Expertise in one or more general development languages (e.g., Java, C#, C++)
Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability
Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and Agile/Scrum teams

Nice To Haves

9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
3+ years of experience with strong DevOps and infrastructure engineering, including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi), streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, Pulsar), and deploying distributed systems at scale on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
3+ years of experience supporting GenAI and LLM-based systems, including building pipelines for model training, fine-tuning, and RAG workflows, managing embeddings and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus), designing prompt retrieval and context management systems, and developing agentic AI platforms using multi-agent architectures and orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, MCP) with secure tool integration, API orchestration, and observability for autonomous workflows.
Experience implementing data observability, logging, monitoring, and reliability frameworks for AI and data pipelines.
Experience collaborating with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and AI platform teams to productionize GenAI applications and ensure performance, reliability, and governance.
Familiarity with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Superset is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads
Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology
Works directly with product owners to gather and refine requirements across products, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions across the organization.
Develops and designs advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem.
Provides domain expertise on the development of technical documentation of solutions and contributes to standard processes in technical documentation as needed.
Plays a key role in the development and delivery of new features across products from end-to-end.
