Designing and implementing advanced automation systems that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of manufacturing operations. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to solve complex technical challenges. Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Supporting new product introductions and bringing automated systems from concept through production. Hands-on involvement with PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and automated inspection technologies in a high-tech manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, and automated inspection systems.
  • Understanding of validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ) and quality systems (QMS).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled automation systems to support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop automation logic, HMI interfaces, and machine control architectures aligned with production requirements.
  • Modify and optimize PLC programs to improve cycle time, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Integrate robotics, vision systems, and automated inspection technologies into production environments.
  • Lead the development, build, and commissioning of automated assembly, testing, and inspection systems.
  • Collaborate with external equipment vendors to define requirements and ensure successful system delivery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions to maintain uptime and production continuity.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing and transitioning automation processes into production.
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Improve machine reliability through preventive maintenance strategies, system upgrades, and performance monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot automation cells, including robotic systems, to restore functionality and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to sensors and electronic inspection systems.
  • Improve manufacturing layouts to optimize workflow, efficiency, and material flow.
  • Implement poka-yoke (error-proofing) solutions to prevent defects and improve process reliability.
  • Train technicians and operators on automation systems, troubleshooting techniques, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process and equipment improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Quality, and Operations teams during product launches to ensure readiness.
  • Develop and execute validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) for automated equipment.
  • Ensure automation systems comply with internal quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate change control documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Document system configurations, validation results, and process changes to ensure traceability and compliance.
