About The Position

The Sustainability Specialist supports transparent, accurate, and timely reporting of sustainability risks, opportunities, and performance metrics to stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and the public. The role supports Oxy’s sustainability disclosures and communications through information gathering, drafting and maintaining content, managing disclosure comments, and conducting research and benchmarking.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Finance, Economics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in the MS Office suite.
• At least 2 years of experience in corporate sustainability in a multinational organization, focused on sustainability disclosure practices and corporate sustainability strategies.
• Experience using corporate data management systems to benchmark and synthesize data and communicate trends and insights from corporate sustainability sources.
• Proficiency in sustainability topics including greenhouse gas emissions, climate-related risks and opportunities, human rights, social capital, environmental stewardship, health and safety, and the NGO landscape.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
• Proficient knowledge, understanding, and experience applying some or all of the sustainability reporting frameworks, standards, and guidelines, including SASB, ISSB, GRI, TCFD, CSRD, TNFD, and Ipieca.
• Must meet all conditional job offer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collate information on sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities aligned with relevant legislation, frameworks, and standards to support Oxy’s disclosures.
• Draft, update, and maintain content for Oxy’s internal and external communications about sustainability programs, including the sustainability website and internal communication platforms.
• Track and close out comments in draft disclosures.
• Undertake research projects and benchmarking analysis on sustainability-related topics and themes as needed.
