Sustainability Program Manager

Crusoe•Denver, CO
•$115,000 - $140,000

About The Position

Crusoe is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager to turn sustainability commitments into operational practices across its expanding portfolio of AI data centers and energy assets. The role owns processes, training, and tracking that help make sustainability KPIs achievable and enforceable, translating targets into requirements, workflows, and accountability at the site and project level. It is suited to someone with technical understanding of how manufacturing facilities and data centers are built and operated, and who can design scalable processes, drive adoption, and improve performance. The position leads operational initiatives in water, waste, and carbon; supports sustainability implementation throughout data center project lifecycles; and embeds requirements into manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and operations. It also supports green building certifications, maintains performance dashboards and workflows, and tracks renewable energy and energy performance data in partnership with internal teams. The manager will provide additional support for broader sustainability priorities as the business evolves.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, data analytics, or a related field; candidates from other backgrounds with demonstrated technical depth are encouraged to apply.
  • 4–7 years of professional experience in sustainability operations, construction or energy management, supply chain or supplier management, or environmental consulting; ideally in data center, cloud infrastructure, energy, or technology sectors.
  • Hands-on experience managing operational programs, performance metrics, or compliance and enforcement processes.
  • Strong understanding of data center construction and operations, including PUE, WUE, and CUE metrics and power, cooling, and energy systems.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy instruments and energy markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to design, document, and roll out scalable processes, SOPs, and controls across multiple stakeholders and sites, and drive adoption and adherence.
  • Experience engaging suppliers, contractors, or vendors to set requirements, build capability, and hold them accountable to performance expectations, including through contract terms, scorecards, and corrective action.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong data skills, such as SQL, Python, or BI tools including Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Experience building trackers, dashboards, and data quality controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex sustainability data into clear narratives for diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who exercises sound judgment under ambiguity, proactively surfaces risks and opportunities, and takes ownership of outcomes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with green building certifications such as LEED AP or Green Globes, or embodied carbon in construction, including whole building LCA tools such as EC3, One Click LCA, or Tally.
  • Experience running supplier engagement or responsible sourcing programs, such as supplier scorecards, audits, or sustainability requirements in procurement.
  • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude or Gemini to build trackers, automate workflows, or improve efficiency.
  • Experience with construction project management, contractor compliance programs, or EHS/quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational sustainability initiatives related to water, waste, and carbon from scoping through delivery; develop project plans, align stakeholders, track milestones, and surface risks.
  • Support sustainability implementation throughout data center project lifecycles by defining, monitoring, and improving construction and operational efficiency metrics, including embodied carbon, waste diversion, PUE, and WUE.
  • Partner with internal teams and external partners to identify performance gaps and drive improvements.
  • Design and implement processes, SOPs, and checklists that integrate sustainability requirements into manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and site operations.
  • Train site teams, contractors, and partners to apply sustainability processes consistently.
  • Support green building certification strategies, including LEED and Green Globes, by coordinating documentation, consultants, and design team inputs.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, trackers, and automated workflows that provide timely visibility into operational performance, using AI-enabled tools to reduce manual effort.
  • Manage renewable energy tracking and energy performance data with Energy, Finance, and Operations teams to monitor portfolio status and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide support across the broader sustainability team, including emerging priorities, ad-hoc data requests, and new initiatives.
