About The Position

Auria is a leading global supplier of highly-engineered systems for automotive flooring, acoustical, thermal, aerodynamic and other fiber-based solutions for gas and electric vehicles. With U.S.-based operational headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, Auria operates 16 manufacturing, 9 technical and 5 JV locations across 10 countries and employs approximately 3,900 people worldwide. The company is currently searching for a Sustainability Operations Specialist to join their team and support the rollout of sustainability initiatives across manufacturing operations, including energy, water, Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL), and decarbonization programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Studies, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 5-7 of experience in sustainability, operations, analytics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience working with data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and advanced formulas required).
  • Familiarity with sustainability concepts, ESG metrics, or frameworks such as Zero Waste to Landfill, ISO 14001, or ISO 50001, as well as Energy and Water Management.
  • Proactive, self‑driven, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose data‑based solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and take ownership of projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferable experience in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Query or VBA is a plus).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, resource flows, or operational systems is a plus.
  • Experience or interest in programming (Python, R, or similar) and statistical modeling is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout of sustainability initiatives across manufacturing operations, including energy, water, Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL), and decarbonization programs.
  • Assist with multisite data collection, validation, analysis, and preparation of monthly and annual sustainability reports.
  • Develop clear, concise monthly sustainability performance summaries for plant and regional leadership.
  • Support sustainability audits and third‑party certifications across sites.
  • Conduct internal sustainability audits to ensure compliance with corporate standards and ISO-based management systems.
  • Assist in developing and deploying training materials to strengthen sustainability capabilities at the plant level.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
