About The Position

Responsible for leading efforts in minimizing environmental impact, advancing sustainable operations, and creating safe working conditions. This role works closely with vendors, managers, and employees to address the organization's approach to environmental and safety responsibility, aiming to minimize the company's environmental footprint and ensure compliance with government regulations, laws, and mandates.

Requirements

• Minimum four years of experience leading projects in the clean transportation industry.
• Experience working in the maritime industry.
• Experience with zero-emission technologies.
• Willingness to travel to meet with industry stakeholders and attend industry conferences.
• Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, marine transportation, business administration, or a related field of study.
• 5 – 6+ years of corporate, business, and management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates sustainability programs related to green initiatives such as emissions standards, energy efficiency, water reduction, waste disposal management, and alternative transportation.
• Develops and enhances recycling programs based on Key Performance Indicators and ensures adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conducts research on the latest zero-emission equipment and technology, including pricing, supplier information, and certifications.
• Collaborates with Safety and Security and Facility Department management on storm water compliance and innovative solutions.
• Ensures safety regulations and new electric and hydrogen/fuel/infrastructure installations comply with standards.
• Ensures all government, federal, state, and local environmental grant awards are completed in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Identifies emerging technologies and regulatory developments impacting the maritime industry's transition to zero-emission operations.
• Assesses and analyzes company policies and processes to identify areas for improvement in environmental regulations.
• Drafts and implements sustainable organizational policies addressing environmental concerns.
• Evaluates the efficacy of sustainability programs and recommends/implements improvements.
• Partners with the Sustainability Manager on documentation for project funding, including proposals and grant applications.
• Researches and provides input to consultants for developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
• Prepares and submits recommendations to Taipei supporting RFP development and evaluation.
• Assists in managing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting databases for ETS Los Angeles, Oakland, and Tacoma terminals, and submits the annual report to Taipei.
• Assists in researching new Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for zero-emission Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE), including analysis of costs, specifications, and components.
• Identifies and submits new grant opportunities, with a focus on Tacoma initiatives.
• Prepares and submits weekly CHE Master Schedule updates to Taipei.
• Provides significant support in the project management of the $238M ETS–POLA Clean Ports Grant and the $66M ETS–PoO Clean Ports Grant, including oversight of design, construction bid packages, engineering support, construction management, and invoice processing.
• Assists in managing the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for Los Angeles and Oakland terminals, including grant management, infrastructure planning, zero-emission CHE deployment, charging infrastructure, workforce development, stakeholder engagement, and public engagement.
• Supports project management activities for existing ETS grants, including RTG Hybridization, TCEP, CORE, and VW programs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
