About The Position

ProSidian seeks a Sustainability & Compliance Engineer for Program Support on an Exempt 1099 Contract basis. This role is primarily remote within the USA, with expected on-site meetings. The position supports the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office (LPO), which provides debt financing for large-scale energy infrastructure projects. The role is aligned with the GSA Labor Category: Senior Consultant and requires relevant Energy Industry (Oil, And Gas/Power, And Utilities) Sector Experience. The Sustainability & Compliance Engineer will provide Independent Engineering (IE) advisory services, focusing on Oil and Gas Operations Monitoring & Lifecycle Performance Support. This includes reviewing environmental compliance, operational sustainability, permit commitments, and emissions-related risks to deliver bankable, technically defensible outputs for due diligence, monitoring, certification, and decision-support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, environmental, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy infrastructure advisory experience.
  • Demonstrated work on oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
  • Proficiency with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office (advanced with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; proficient with Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio).
  • Ability to quickly learn other tools as needed.

  • PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or discipline-specific credentials preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Independent Engineering advisory support for Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) Program technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities, with emphasis on environmental performance, sustainability metrics, compliance obligations, and operational commitments.
  • Reviews project documentation, evaluates technical and commercial interfaces, identifies risks and mitigations, validates assumptions, supports conditions precedent and disbursement readiness reviews where applicable, and prepares defensible work products including sustainability dashboards, emissions and resource metrics, compliance evidence, and improvement actions.
  • Coordinates with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders to support timely lender and DOE decision-making.
  • Reviews environmental compliance, operational sustainability, permit commitments, and emissions-related risk considerations.
  • May participate in data room reviews, borrower/contractor interviews, site observations, monthly monitoring meetings, risk register updates, CP evidence reviews, draw package checks, issue closure tracking, and preparation of Independent Engineer reports for DOE, LPO, credit, and program governance stakeholders.
