About The Position
We are seeking a Sushi Server for our Sora Sushi Bar here at Parkwest Bicycle Casino. Sora is a new and exciting dining concept that combines the best of traditional sushi and contemporary hand rolls. We are seeking energetic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as servers. At Sora, our servers play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience, ensuring that each guest enjoys the best of our sushi and hand roll offerings. We are committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience with high-quality ingredients, meticulous preparation, and a vibrant, fast-paced atmosphere.
Requirements
- Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test.
- Must possess RBS Certification (Responsible Beverage Service).
- Must possess a California Food Handler Card.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience in a setting where Japanese dining customs and etiquette are observed, such as understanding the proper way to serve sushi, present dishes, and interact with customers in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Three to five years several years of experience working in restaurants, preferably in establishments that focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine.
- Qualified individual must be knowledgeable and able to distinguish different types of sushi.
- Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in recommending or serving sake is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that guests have a pleasant dining experience by efficiently delivering sushi and other menu items, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Greet and welcome guest with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience, ensuring that each guest enjoys the best of our sushi and hand roll offerings.
- Has a deep understanding of the sushi menu, including different types of sushi (nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls), ingredients, preparation methods, and accompaniments.
- Explain sushi bar’s unique dining concept, highlighting fresh hand rolls and sushi.
- Has full awareness of various sushi ingredients, including types of fish, rice, seaweed, and condiments like wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger.
- Knowledge of traditional Japanese beverages, including sake, and the ability to suggest pairings with sushi dishes enhances the customer experience. Prior experience in recommending or serving sake is a plus.
- Ability to guide customers with allergies or dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, vegan) through the menu options.
- Accurately take orders from customers, ensuring that special requests or dietary restrictions are noted. Relay these orders to the kitchen and sushi chefs.
- Serve sushi and other dishes to customers in a timely manner, ensuring that each dish is presented attractively.
