About The Position

As a Sushi Clerk, this position will be responsible for filling customer orders, handling food in a safe manner, ordering and receiving products, making sure orders are correct, and labeling, dating, and putting product away. Additionally, you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members. At Hy-Vee, our people are our strength. Requirements

• High school or equivalent experience
• Food Safety Certification
• Six months or more of similar or related experience
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to deal with a few concrete variables
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
• Ability to copy figures, count and record
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to write identifying information
• Ability to request supplies orally or in writing
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
• Ability to exert 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction
• Depth perception
• Field of vision
• Ability to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
• Must be continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes
• Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals/solvents

Responsibilities

• Learning customers' names and addressing them by name whenever possible
• Escorting customers to products
• Securing products that are out of reach
• Loading or unloading heavy items
• Taking customer orders at the Chinese Express counter
• Working with co-workers as a team
• Understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures
• Ensuring the work area is always clean and neat
• Reviewing the status and appearance of food for freshness
• Ensuring an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
• Developing or following a production list
• Anticipating product needs for the department on a daily basis
• Preparing, finishing, and replenishing product as necessary
• Pulling product from cooler/freezer for preparation
• Checking in product and putting product away
• Removing trash in a timely manner
• Adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines
• Reporting to work when scheduled and on time
• Washing dishes as necessary
• Ordering product and supplies as necessary
• Pricing product for customers as necessary
• Delivering orders as needed
• Assisting in other areas of store as needed
• Performing other job-related duties and special projects as required
