About The Position

Trapper’s Sushi is hiring a Sushi Chef for our Tacoma location. If you have sushi experience, we’d love to talk to you. Sushi experience is preferred, but it is not required — if you’re a strong cook with solid kitchen skills, good knife skills, and the ability to learn quickly, we’re willing to train the right person. This is a restaurant-based position performed in a busy kitchen and guest-facing sushi bar. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable state law. This position is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Requirements

• Sushi experience OR strong professional cooking and knife skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Willing and able to learn Trapper’s Sushi recipes, techniques, and standards
• Works well as part of a team
• Maintains strong food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
• Dependable and ready to work in a high-volume restaurant environment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Sushi experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform repetitive chopping, cutting, rolling, plating, reaching, and grasping motions.
• Regularly bend, reach, twist, push, and pull.
• Safely operate knives and other commercial kitchen equipment.
• Work around varying temperatures, food allergens, raw seafood, sharp tools, wet surfaces, and moderate-to-high noise levels.
• Maintain strong food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
• Learn Trapper’s Sushi recipes, techniques, and standards.
