About The Position

Under general supervision, the Surveyor performs detailed field surveys at the assigned site and may oversee field survey crews. The role maintains accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed; updates conventional and electronic GIS files; researches previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence, and other records; and recommends methods and procedures for assigned surveys. The Surveyor also prepares and presents findings to engineering and operational personnel and performs other duties as required. The position is based at Freeport-McMoRan’s Chino open-pit copper mining complex, located near Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and must pass required training and testing. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shifts other than day shift, at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Requirements

Advanced training or education in surveying, mapping, or a related field.
One year of surveying experience relevant to the assignment.
Must pass all required training and/or testing.
May be required to pass a medical exam.
