About The Position

Engineers Construction, Inc. in Williston is seeking an experienced Surveyor with preferred ten plus years of experience within the construction industry. This highly technical position provides geometric layout, control, and other related services for our organization’s construction projects. The Surveyor’s day-to-day will entail the use of specialized equipment and CAD/Drafting software to develop our project site layouts. They must promote the qualities of safety, quality, and integrity that characterize work performed by Engineers Construction, Inc. Surveyors at ECI work outdoors in various field environments, collecting the data that is used for construction, engineering, mapping, and other purposes. They must possess strong technical skills, high attention to detail, and a solid understanding of geometry and mathematics. This role requires a blend of fieldwork and office-based tasks, with opportunities for problem-solving and critical thinking in a dynamic and challenging work environment. The Survey team works in both the field and office environment to create the essential layouts for our construction projects. Using specialized survey equipment as well as CAD/Drafting software, Surveyors are responsible for accurately determining a project site’s layout. From collecting field survey data, through the downloading and processing of this information, to the final drafting of project documents, this position is responsible for performing all stages of the needed computations for the construction stakeout. Surveyors will often collaborate with the various engineers, architects, and developers involved with a project to ensure that the work completed is accurately built per the contract plans. Candidates for this role must have a high level of proficiency in both their verbal and written communications, and must be able to speak professionally with both customers and the various stakeholders on a project. Additionally, due to the size of our organization, this role may be called on to consult and manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously. Having the demonstrated ability to adapt to competing priorities and meet deadlines in this changing environment will be key. Surveyors must be able to work independently and safely travel to and traverse construction sites due to the nature of this position. They must be able to maintain safe work practices in all environments, and candidates should be capable of performing the physical work in the field this role requires. All members of the Survey team must promote the qualities of safety, quality, and integrity that characterize work performed by Engineers Construction, Inc.

Requirements

  • Ten plus years of experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of geometry and mathematics.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to speak professionally with customers and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel to and traverse construction sites.
  • Capability to perform physical work in the field.
  • In-depth experience with the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with survey principles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in takeoff, arithmetic, layout, measurement, and differential leveling.
  • Baseline technological familiarity.
  • Ability to operate Robotic Total Stations, data collectors, auto levels, laser levels, and GPS survey units.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and thoroughly understand project details.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Land Surveyors are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Survey Equipment is a key quality.
  • Educational backgrounds in Land Surveying and/or Civil Engineering Technologies, or the equivalent job experience to a field-specific Bachelor’s degree.
  • Discipline-related certifications such as OSHA30.
