About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Surveyor 2 to provide quality surveying services and help ensure construction work complies with design drawings and specifications. The role performs measurements for job setup, stake-out, and as-built work, and provides survey support to job-site personnel throughout projects. The position works on multiple jobs under the direction of the Survey Chief and operates survey equipment as required. The role is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and may require travel, including out-of-town travel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience related to new construction surveying.
• Proficiency in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Proficient verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff and demonstrate a strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to travel as required, including out-of-town travel.
• Valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle with an up-to-date inspection sticker for work-related duties.
• Ability to work long hours and drive long distances to and from work.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and follow proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
• Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
• Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet and climb and balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
• Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead routinely and repetitively.
• Good vision, including color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
• Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, apply general rules to specific problems, draw conclusions from information, see details at close range, and understand spoken information.

Nice To Haves

• Current surveyor license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes.
• Mark measurement points with required data and assist in measuring between points.
• Place stakes at designated points and specified elevations.
• Operate survey equipment, including Total Stations, GPS data collectors, and auto levels.
• Provide survey support to job-site personnel as required throughout projects.
• Work on multiple jobs under the direction of the Survey Chief.
