About The Position

The Survey Rodman will be responsible for supporting Surveyors and surveying crews during the measurement of land and grade. This role involves visiting work/construction sites for land measurements, using basic mathematics and reading numerals, and providing accurate survey rod readings as directed by the surveyor. The position requires working in varying weather conditions and environments, maintaining company vehicle, tools, and equipment, and complying with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. General duties as specified will also be performed.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience assisting in surveying procedures, operations and providing survey rod readings.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
  • Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel for long periods of time
  • Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
  • Constant physical effort, including extended sitting for at least 8 hour shift
  • Intermittent standing and walking
  • Climb intermittently
  • Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform duties
  • Occasionally reach above shoulder level
  • May lift and carry small objects under 20 pounds on a regular basis
  • Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
  • Able to hear and respond to oral instructions
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; reach and grasp
  • Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination.
  • Good vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Visit work/construction sites for land measurements.
  • Using basic mathematics and reading numerals.
  • Provide accurate survey rod readings on the request and direction of surveyor.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
  • Keep company vehicle, tools and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other general duties as specified.
