About The Position

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced and dynamic Surveying Program Manager to lead and oversee a team of more than 25 survey professionals across our Maryland and Virginia offices. This is a high-impact leadership role, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and technical expertise to ensure excellence in land surveying, and aerial mapping. This position is available in our Hunt Valley, MD office. Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic leadership and managerial oversight for surveying operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficiency and quality. - Oversee and manage financial performance of survey operations across our Maryland and Virginia offices. - Lead and mentor a team of survey professionals, fostering professional growth and collaboration.- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of land surveying projects, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards.- Prepare and present detailed reports on survey findings for clients, stakeholders, and executive leadership.- Develop and refine CAD-based property surveys, subdivision plans, condominium plats and design related mapping to support engineering and development projects.- Ensure the successful execution of FEMA Elevation certificates, boundary verifications, easement plats, survey descriptions, ALTA Surveys and topographic surveys.- Manage the preparation of project cost estimates, proposals, and budgets to optimize operational efficiency.- Coordinate with engineering teams to address survey-related design issues and technical challenges.- Interpret complex plans, blueprints, and legal documents to guide project execution.- Implement innovative surveying techniques and technological advancements to enhance team productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in land surveying, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the States of Maryland, Virginia and Kentucky required; Additional registrations in PA and DC preferred.
  • Minimum 20-25 years of progressive experience in land surveying, including extensive field and office work.
  • At least 8-12 years of experience managing a survey department or leading a surveying team.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide and support a large, multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, Open Roads Designer (ORD Version 3) and other industry-leading surveying software.
  • Advanced knowledge of surveying methodologies, legal principles, and mathematical computations.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a track record of responsible driving. Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the States of Maryland, Virginia and Kentucky required; Additional registrations in PA and DC preferred.
