SURVEY TECHNICIAN (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III)
About The Position
This position is accountable for conducting routes, bridge inspection, hydraulic, and property surveys. The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire Survey Technicians. Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR Six years of engineering experience.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Requires district-wide travel.
- Requires successful completion of a background screening.
Nice To Haves
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying.
- Experience with GPS date collection and processing.
- Considerable knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
Responsibilities
- Conducts route, structure, hydraulic, and property surveys.
- Assists the Survey Crew Chief in preparing work schedules and determining the distribution of survey crew personnel among the various survey projects.
- Researches property records and compiles data necessary to complete assigned survey projects.
- Accountable for the maintenance and repair or survey instruments and equipment.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
