About The Position

Davey Resource Group is seeking a Survey Technician to join our growing survey team. This is a field-only, entry-level position ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to learn the surveying profession through hands-on experience and on-the-job training. As a Survey Technician, you will work alongside experienced field staff on a variety of survey projects including boundary, topographic, utility, construction staking, and bathymetric surveys. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a long-term career in surveying with room to grow, develop technical skills, and advance within the company.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of surveying-related experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Current, valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors full-time in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically active work, including walking uneven terrain and carrying equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in the surveying field.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Mapping preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside experienced survey crews in the field on a variety of survey projects.
  • Assist with boundary, ALTA, right-of-way, topographic, utility, bathymetric, and construction staking surveys.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment including total stations, levels, GPS equipment, and other field technology.
  • Collect field data, take notes, and assist with measurements and staking activities.
  • Support field crews with daily survey tasks while learning proper procedures, equipment use, and survey methods.
  • Work safely outdoors in a variety of weather, terrain, and site conditions.
  • Travel to project sites as needed and assist with physically active fieldwork.
  • Learn the surveying profession through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world field experience.
