Survey Technician - Water Main Systems
About The Position
The Survey Technician is responsible for verification and correction of prepared basemap for CDWM Water Main and Lead Service Replacement Programs under the supervision of the PMO Survey Manager and PMO Water Main Design Manager. This role involves processing utility Information Retrieval (IR) requests, reviewing and correcting OUC utilities in topographic survey basemaps using Microstation V8i, and potentially preparing basic GIS maps and 80 Acre sheets using ArcMap. The technician will also coordinate and provide technical recommendations to topographic survey consultants, manage the basemap revision process with the Water Main Design and CADD team, and support the management of Topographic Survey Consulting Firms for the DWM Water Main Replacement Program. Additionally, the role requires tracking project status in P6 software and other tracking software.
Requirements
- HS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Willingness to learn quickly and be detail oriented
- Ability to organize work and maintain a high level of productivity
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills both in written and verbal
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in CADD, Planning, Engineering or other science-related field.
- Three (3) + Years experience in CADD/Civil/Water Resources/Planning disciplines.
- Survey and/or Engineering experience with utility infrastructure work.
- Experience using MicroStation, CADD MicroStation 3D and AutoCAD software.
Responsibilities
- Process utility Information Retrieval (IR) requests from CDOT Office of Underground Coordination (OUC) for CDWM Water Main (WM) Replacement Program
- Review and correction of all OUC utilities in provided topographic survey basemap using Microstation V8i according to CDWM Utility and CADD standards manual.
- Prepare basic GIS maps for IR process using ArcMap.
- Prepare 80 Acre sheets for WM projects using ArcMap.
- Coordinate and provide technical recommendations to the topographic survey consultants
- Coordinate basemap revision process with Water Main Design and CADD team
- Support with management of Topographic Survey Consulting Firms for DWM Water Main Replacement Program
- Track status for projects in P6 software and other tracking software.
