About The Position

We are growing our Survey team in the Columbia, MO area and looking for a Crew Chief to help lead what’s next. This role is for someone who is already leading in some capacity - running crews, guiding field work, helping solve problems. Not just doing the work, but helping shape how it’s delivered and how the team grows. You’ll play a key role in delivering survey work from field to finish, supporting crews, staying close to projects, and helping ensure things run smoothly across the board. Along the way, you’ll: Stay close to project performance (scope, schedule, budget).

Requirements

• Experience leading survey crews or coordinating field work
• A few years of experience in land surveying (crew chief, party chief, or similar)
• Comfort working across field and office environments
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• A sense of ownership: you care about the work, your team, and doing things the right way

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for land survey projects, directing crew members in the collection of accurate field data for boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Perform field calculations, establish and check horizontal and vertical control, and ensure proper reference to known benchmarks.
• Oversee and train field technicians, promoting safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices.
• Conduct field QC reviews to confirm completeness and accuracy of collected data.
• Document site conditions, photos, and any field changes or discrepancies that could impact project deliverables.
