About The Position

MGC Contractors, Inc. is a 100% Employee Owned Corporation specializing in water and wastewater general contracting. They are seeking a Survey Technician/CAD to join their Arizona Division in the Phoenix metro area. This role involves reviewing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents, verifying survey data, developing CAD drawings for job site layout, establishing and maintaining control systems, laying out structures and pipelines, and creating As-Built files. The position requires efficient work with minimal supervision and close collaboration with various project stakeholders, while adhering to all safety requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Familiarity with State Plane coordinate systems.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment (e.g., total station, GPS, site level, laser level, etc.)
  • Proficiency with software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong mathematical skills, particularly in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • At least five (5) years of experience using survey equipment and AutoCAD.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with various stakeholders and the ability to communicate through email.
  • Must have a clean driver's license and general knowledge of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
  • Passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Leica products is a plus.
  • Construction experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and comprehend blueprint drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, etc.
  • Review previous surveys, existing control, and land records to verify and support survey data.
  • Develop accurate CAD drawings for job site layout.
  • Establish and maintain a system of horizontal and vertical control for each job site.
  • Layout structures, pipelines, large and small diameter mechanical piping, site grade, cut/fill elevations and process equipment.
  • Develop As-Built files to be provided to engineers and owners.
  • Maintain a clean and organized field book.
  • Work efficiently with little to no supervision.
  • Work closely with Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Superintendents to ensure projects comply with design and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all Company and OSHA Safety Requirements.
  • Any and all other duties assigned.
