About The Position
The Survey Research/Geographic Information System Technician is responsible for recognizing problems on the city’s rights-of-way, mapping the city’s stormwater drainage system with accurate measurements transferred to scale drawings, and keeping up-to-date zoning mapping. The Survey Research/GIS Technician also maintains the GIS system for recording street data and, at the director's discretion, conducts accurate on-site measurements of all the city’s streets, as well as all other duties assigned.
Requirements
- High School Education plus specialized training and/or job experience in a specific skill area such as data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc.
- Two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Recognizing problems on the city’s rights-of-way
- Mapping the city’s stormwater drainage system with accurate measurements transferred to scale drawings
- Keeping up-to-date zoning mapping
- Maintaining the GIS system for recording street data
- Conducting accurate on-site measurements of all the city’s streets (at the director's discretion)
- Performing all other assigned duties
