The Project Manager will provide overall management and direction for projects. Responsibilities include customer interface, client development, project scoping, scheduling, procurement, cost and progress monitoring, management, and reporting. This role is responsible for the supervision and management of all survey activities related to conventional, GPS, and Laser Scanning surveys. The Project Manager ensures that all bids and estimates for work are established based on the profit and growth objectives of SSMC, and creates a scope of work for all projects through client negotiation and project knowledge. This scope defines project details and serves as a communication tool between the Project Manager, Field Teams, and CAD Technicians. The role ensures that all letters and proposals sent to clients are in the form of routine correspondence for SSMC, and that the final product's technical and QA/QC is implemented before submission. Additionally, the Project Manager ensures all RFPs are submitted on time and that a comprehensive job packet is prepared, including research materials, scope of work, work order, and necessary forms. They develop comprehensive schedules for long-term projects, prepare cost and time estimates for survey proposals, and provide day-to-day guidance and support to field personnel, including training in survey procedures. Verification of proper research before project release to the field team is crucial. The role also involves organizing post-project meetings to review project phases, organizational structure, communication, schedules, and job costs. Project folders are organized for purging and scanning. The Project Manager generates new business leads, engages in client marketing, strengthens existing client relationships, and participates in the development of long-term goals. The ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents is essential, as is accommodating client and job site needs by responding promptly and professionally. Occasional field work performing surveying tasks and light office duties may be required, along with other duties assigned by management.
