About The Position
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Columbia, SC. This role involves overseeing field operations for infrastructure and transportation projects, leading field crews, and ensuring the delivery of precise, high-quality field data. The ideal candidate is a driven leader with technical skill, strong decision-making abilities, and a commitment to accuracy.
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience required
- Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel short-term required
- Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
- NSPS ‑ CST Level II certification preferred
- LSIT preferred
Responsibilities
- Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and well‑coordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
- Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS
- Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to accurately plan and execute surveying projects
- Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout
