CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Columbia, SC. This role will oversee field operations supporting infrastructure and transportation projects across the region. Requirements

High school diploma required
Minimum of 3 years of related experience required
Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards
Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel short-term required

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
Strong communication, time management, and team coordination skills with the ability to represent the firm professionally with clients and the broader public
NSPS‑CST Level II certification preferred
LSIT preferred

Responsibilities

Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and well‑coordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS
Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to accurately plan and execute surveying projects
Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout
