This is a unique opportunity to support the expansion of Ayres' survey service line in North Carolina, collaborating with existing teams in civil engineering and transportation divisions. Requirements

  • North Carolina Professional Land Survey (PLS) License
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in land surveying, geography, engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 10 years of combined experience providing survey solutions for the geospatial, engineering, and architectural industries in the following sectors: Transportation design, Utilities (transmission & distribution, telecommunications, pipelines, etc.), Construction.
  • A minimum of 10 years of combined experience managing projects employing survey technologies, including GPS, total stations, HD laser scanning, and UAS.
  • A minimum of 10 years of combined experience managing field staff, survey equipment, and vehicle fleet.
  • Experience with CAD drafting software.
  • Prior experience in supervising staff, managing projects, and developing new and maintaining existing clients.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the long-range strategic plan, marketing plan, and the annual business plan for the group, with emphasis on financial plan, capital purchase, budget, marketing, and training plan sections.
  • Meet the goals and objectives of the annual business plan and budget, including revenue and profitability goals, workload backlog, billing, and accounts receivable.
  • Supervise the work activities of project managers, surveyors, technicians, and other assigned specialists.
  • Foster an environment that encourages staff growth, flexibility, and creativity, as well as a company culture that champions inclusion and overall employee well-being.
  • Routine travel between Burlington/Raleigh offices to support and spend time with staff members and occasionally travel to other Ayres office locations.
  • Oversee Project Managers to assure that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in conformance with the quality standards of the firm and the requirements of the contract.
  • Act as the company representative and spokesperson in the community, as well as actively engage in local, statewide, and/or national professional organizations.
  • Conduct business development activities, including client contact, marketing, and monitoring client satisfaction.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate policies/procedures while preparing and overseeing quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and approve contract documents, including scope of work, project schedule, and fee estimates provided by group project managers.
  • Prepare and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures.
