Survey Manager
About The Position
Manage staff performing surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the earth’s surface, underground and underwater using conventional, GPS equipment and other surveying instruments for use in topographic mapping and engineering design surveys. Reviews survey crew daily work diaries as needed, review and sign cut sheets and prepare weekly timesheets for self and review and approve survey staff time sheets. Executes survey control and reviews jobsite safety for survey field staff. Review and apply geometry and survey calculations and gather and review data for the preparation of topographical maps and design survey for new and existing construction. Manage staff preparing and/or prepare calculations for use in construction staking, boundary surveys and other surveys. Prepare and/or review boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, subdivision plats, land splits and other survey maps or plats Perform analyses of data and demonstrate effective interactions with clients, contractors, subcontractors and other departments within the company. Prepare and oversee contracts for survey and mapping work. Review and prepare monthly billing reports and manage job budgets. Perform employee evaluations and interview/evaluate potential candidates for open positions.
Requirements
- Seven (7) years of survey experience, plus an A.S. in surveying or equivalent work experience of nine (9) years
- Professional Land Surveyor Registration, or demonstrate the ability to obtain within 90 days of accepting the position
- Prior survey department management experience
- Experienced in Word, Excel, Civil 3D or MicroStation Survey and Trimble Office software

- Knowledge of aerial mapping control surveys
- Knowledge of geodetic surveys
- Knowledge of local and national survey standards
- Knowledge of Arizona Statutes/Administrative Code as they relate to Surveying and Mapping
