About The Position

Boundary Zone, Inc., a Land Surveying, Engineering, and Land Planning Firm, has the opportunity for an additional Professional Land Surveyor to fulfill the role of the local office Survey Manager for their growing Land Surveying Department. The ideal candidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor with a valid Georgia Surveying License. This Position has the opportunity for growth to other territories and offices that provide surveying services throughout Georgia. This position reports directly to the divisions Regional Manager.

Requirements

  • Current Georgia Professional Land Surveying License
  • Minimum of 4 years project management experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years land surveying experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be skilled in managing multiple priorities and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Must be able to work independently and make survey related decisions.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must be able to solve problems related to surveying and mapping projects; certify legal descriptions, plats, and survey reports; supervise technicians and field crews on survey and mapping projects as well as attend required meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Land Surveying Licenses / Plan Planning credentials, are a plus.
  • Drafting on Civil 3d, Carlson, or other CAD software, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Managing survey projects to establish the requirements to meet accuracy standards, budgets, schedules, and board compliance.
  • Supervising and assisting coworkers in completing all aspects of land surveying regarding field work and office work, including but not unlimited to establishing horizontal and vertical control, topographic, as-built, property boundary surveys and construction staking.
  • Ensuring compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements, including boundary calculations and legal compliance.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Managing subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Acting as an advisor to land surveying team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
  • Ensuring that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Ensuring that project research is complete including plats, deeds, estimates and all necessary job research is complete before dispatching crews to the job.
  • Management of field crews – assign them their daily work schedule, pair assistants with the appropriate crew chiefs, process requests for absence/vacation.
  • Evaluating staff performance and provide input the decision process of advancement and/or maintaining employment.
  • Tracking the field work to completion and assign to CAD drafters.
  • Ensuring that Crew Chiefs are aware of job details and any unusual circumstances prior to dispatching to job.
  • Management of projects and provide scope of work to the field crew, cad drafter and the signing surveyor.
  • Answering client calls with concerns or questions regarding the survey and anticipated delivery of the survey.
  • Providing field crews with calculated property corners for replacing lost or obliterated monumentation.
  • Taking sales calls and emails, quoting projects, processing work orders, taking payments as required.
  • Ensuring project hours do not exceed the billable and budgeted hours.
  • Responsible for project management of survey projects.
  • Assigning and directing project effort (survey crews and technicians), project communications within the company and to outside stakeholders, monitoring and processing financial information, and maintaining client relationships and attending training, as necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with boundary law and construction procedures.
  • Being vigilant for ways to improve methods or procedures and make suggestions to other staff.
