About The Position

This role is a key member of the Roads Technical Hub (North and Hunter) team, delivering surveying expertise and technical assurance across Transport for NSW's major infrastructure, asset maintenance, and operational programs. The challenge includes leading the development and deployment of surveying capability across the region, providing expert technical advice to project teams, driving consistency and best practice in spatial and utility data management, and building workforce capability through leadership, mentoring, and resource planning. The role involves leading innovative surveying solutions and technical excellence in a dynamic infrastructure environment, balancing competing priorities, managing complex stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of projects across investigation, development, construction, and asset maintenance phases. The position offers the opportunity to influence major infrastructure outcomes, champion innovation, and contribute to Transport's reputation as a leader in surveying services. The team is primarily based in Grafton, with fieldwork activities concentrated in the region from Port Macquarie in the south to the Queensland border and from the coast to Moree and Gunnedah in the west.

Requirements

  • Technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills formed across surveying, infrastructure, engineering, construction, utilities, transport, or related industries.
  • Registration as a Land Surveyor in NSW (or mutual recognition equivalent).
  • A current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license.
  • Ability to be flexible with work arrangements which may include overtime, night work, weekend work, and overnight stays.
